Mount Olympus Hiking Trail
Found on the east side of Salt Lake City, Mount Olympus is a 9,026-foot peak that offers amazing views from the summit. The trail gains approximately 4,100 feet over 3.75 miles, and the top of the mountain is a federally protected wilderness area. Mount Olympus is rated difficult, and it's a popular year-round hiking destination.
Lake Blanche Trail
Known as a classic hiking trail, Lake Blanche wanders through scrub oaks and aspen trees. Along the way, hikers enjoy stunning views of flowing streams, waterfalls, and the opposing quartzite mountains. The path is 6.9 miles out and back and takes about three hours to complete.
Cecret Lake Trail
Cecret Lake is one of the area's most beautiful and rewarding hikes. It's especially memorable during wildflower season and begins with a fun creek crossing before climbing steeply up a rocky, technical path. Visitors enjoy views of an alpine lake and Devil's Castle, and may even spot a charming moose family.
Mill B North Fork Trail
Found 4.4 miles up Big Cottonwood Canyon, the Mill B North Fork Trail starts with a set of switchbacks before quickly gaining elevation to the first ridge. Hikers find several steep sections where the path begins to climb the canyon, and throughout, they'll see Dromedary Peak, the drainage of Blanche Lake, and the valley toward Salt Lake City. The total distance is three miles, and Mill B is suitable for all skill levels.
