Enjoy an Evening Under the Stars at These Outdoor Events in Tucson
There's nothing quite like a balmy evening spent outdoors with friends or family. Though probably not done often enough, relaxing under the stars is a great way to unwind after a hectic day. Whether it be a favorite old movie or some great live music, Tucson is fortunate to have an array of events that give people the opportunity to get outside for a fun evening.
Here are a few worth exploring:
Music in the Mountains
Organized by Catalina State Park, the Music in the Mountains concert series has something for everyone. Held throughout the summer months, Music in the Mountains features local artists with performances such as All Jazzed Up and Eric Schaffer and the Other Troublemakers. The concerts are free with the purchase of an all-day vehicle pass.
Cinema La Placita
Located in Downtown Tucson, Cinema La Placita is a film series that has been in operation for almost 20 years. Held in the plaza of the Tucson Museum of Art, film screenings take place every Thursday evening from May through August. With a focus on film classics, showings include hits such as the 1962 version of The Manchurian Candidate and the romantic comedy Foul Play.
Music Under the Stars
For a wonderful evening of live music, Music Under The Stars is one of Tucson's most festive live events. Presented in conjunction with the Tucson Pops Orchestra, this magical series has been running since 1955. Held in Reid Park at the DeMeester Outdoor Performance Center, the concerts are offered free of charge. Guests are encouraged to bring lounge chairs or blankets so they can sit back and relax with performances such as the 1812 Overture and the Tucson Boys Chorus and Irish Dancers.
