Experience the Arts in Midvale
The arts are alive and well in Midvale, courtesy of the Midvale Volunteer Arts Council. The community has enjoyed a wealth of entertainment from plays and musicals to comedy improv, and diverse musical performances from country to jazz to the Utah National Guard 23rd Army Band. The Midvale arts scene has something for everyone in 2019:
Theater in Midvale
The Midvale Performing Arts Center (695 West Center St.) holds a 110-seat auditorium that is home to two local theater companies, the Sandbox Theatre Company and the Quick Wits Comedy Improv Team, as well as performances by local community groups. This historic building, originally constructed in 1930 as a Works Progress Administration project, for a time served as City Hall and underwent a major renovation in 2004. The Importance of Being Earnest
March 8-9,11 and 14-16, 2019. Oscar Wilde's comedy follows two friends in 1890's London, and the hilarity that ensues when each pursues a secret double life as alter ego "Ernest"
The Pirates of Penzance
June 7-8, 10, 13-15, 2019. Experience Gilbert & Sullivan's comedic opera in two acts. Follow the love story of Fredric, apprenticed to a band of pirates, and Mabel, daughter of the Major-General.
Lots of Laughs
For hilarious improv comedy, check out the Quick Wits Comedy site for dates at the MPAC. This talented improvisational comedy troupe takes audience suggestions and creates comedy sketches on the spot.
Summer Fun in the Park
When summer arrives, the locals bring their lawn chairs and blankets to the Midvale City Park Amphitheater (455 W. 7500 S.) This terrific outdoor venue offers lawn seating for free summer concerts in the park. Stay tuned!
